2013 Shuttle Bus Timetable now available
Once again we are delighted to team up with Bus Eireann to provide a Shuttle Bus to Strandhill from Sligo Town. Why not avail of this great service and avoid all the hassle of parking and traffic restrictions that will be in place on the day. And for a great price too only €5 return. With buses running to and from Sligo up to midnight, you can relax and enjoy the post race festivites.
We are always on the lookout for Volunteers. Why not sign up and see The Warriors Run from a different angle.
First and foremost many many thanks to all who registered for the 2013 Warriors Run, best of luck in the race. Also many thanks to those who tried to register but missed out for this year. We sincerely thank you for your interest and your understanding that, whilst we would love to accommodate everyone, we are limited space wise in every way from a health and safety point of view on the mountain route, to the logistics in the village of Strandhill regards traffic and parking restrictions.
However we know that each year up to 8% of registered runners pull out before the race due to injury or other committments so we do ask those who have registered, if you are unable to take part, please transfer your place to a willing participant. If you do not personally know anyone to transfer your registration to, please avail of our MESSAGEBOARD facility to advertise your place. There are numerous people looking for places so you should have no trouble selling on your registration. Finally if you can't transfer, you can cancel your place by emailing email@example.com
Even if you didn't get into this years race, but want to join in the festivities in some way, The Warriors Walk (along the same road section as the Run) takes place again this year and you can register for this fun non-competitive event on Saturday 31st August 12pm to 2.30pm.
OR if you would like to see the Warriors Run from a different angle, we are always in need of Volunteers to help out along the route on the day. You will receive a souvenir T-Shirt and refreshments in exchange for your time (between 2 - 4 hours) and be back in time for the after Run festivities. Email us on firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help out.
OR if you just want to come along and cheer on the runners, please do so. We have plenty of live entertainment and other activities for young and old on the day and it is always guaranteed a great day in Strandhill Village. There are some fantastic restaurants, cafes and bars in the area and beautiful beaches and facilites to help you relax and pass the time.
The 2013 Warriors Festival will be launched on SUNDAY 5TH MAY 2013 with a street parade of local community groups that takes place from The Rugby Club to the Beachfront starting at 3pm. All Community, Sports, Social and School Groups from the Strandhill/Coolera area are welcome to participate, please EMAIL US before FRIDAY 3RD MAY to let us know you will be in attendance if you have not already contacted us.
There will be a family fun day at the beachfront from 3.30pm to 5.30pm with bouncy castles, facepainting and musical performances from choral and dance groups and there will be a fancy dress competition for families.
Also the Festival Committee are delighted to host a HB ICE CREAM FUNDAY on the day with delicious ice cream for sale and all proceeds going to Down Syndrome Ireland.
Details of all Festival Events for 2013 will be announced including the opening of online registration for the 29th Annual Warriors Run.
The Annual General Meeting for the 2013 Warriors Festival will take place on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 9pm in The Strand Bar, Strandhill where a review of the 2012 Festival will take place with reports from the Chairman and the Secretary of the Festival Committee. The accounts for 2012 will also be reviewed and on display.
